Why we like it
For the 2022 vintage, Barbera d'Asti La Crena was produced from grapes from the "La Crena" vineyard in Agliano Terme, characterized by a density of 4,800 vines per hectare and cultivated with the Guyot method. The oldest vines date back to 1932, planted on a silt-clay soil with excellent southern exposure. The alcoholic fermentation, lasting about two weeks, takes place in open steel vats, accompanied by mechanical fungusing, "délestage" and pumping over to ensure optimal extraction. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine undergoes a post-fermentation maceration with the skins, followed by aging in barriques, where malolactic fermentation is completed. The wine ages for about 18 months in barriques, barrels and steel, acquiring the complexity and balance that distinguish the 2022 vintage.
