Davide Fregonese

Davide Fregonese, originally from Piedmont and with a successful background in finance, founded Bugia Nen, a wine project that embodies his deep connection to his roots. The name "Bugia Nen," meaning "we do not move" in Piedmontese dialect, is inspired by a historical episode from the 1747 Battle of Assietta, symbolizing Piedmontese resilience. Fregonese channels this determination into his wines, striving to express the unique characteristics of the Piedmontese and Sicilian terroirs.

In the heart of the Langhe, in Serralunga d'Alba, Fregonese owns vineyards in the prestigious Cerretta and Prapò crus, where Nebbiolo finds its purest expression. Collaborating with renowned winemaker Davide Rosso, these vineyards produce Barolo wines that are refined and complex: Cerretta is known for its elegance and smoothness, while Prapò is prized for its structure and persistence. Each wine tells the story of its terroir, with a limited and high-quality production.

On Etna, Fregonese has acquired a vineyard that captures the strength of volcanic soils. Here, he produces four labels that explore the nuances of this unique terroir: Etna Rosso DOC and its Riserva, characterized by delicate tannins and vibrant acidity; Etna Bianco DOC, rich in savoriness and minerals; and Etna Rosato DOC, offering a burst of freshness and complexity through Nerello Mascalese.

Bugia Nen represents a journey between Piedmont and Sicily, with the goal of creating wines that reflect the essence of the land through elegance and authenticity.
