Tasting notes
The Ugolforte Brunello di Montalcino 2018 stands out for its juiciness and depth, qualities that derive from the clayey and gullies soils of the vineyards overlooking the Val d’Orcia. In this vintage, the enveloping fruit is further amplified, while the balance of flavor is expressed in a wine that is strong and silky at the same time.
Pairings
This Brunello pairs beautifully with game, wild boar, roasts, steaks and mature mountain cheeses, enhancing the richness and complexity of the dishes.
Why we like it
The 2018 vintage was characterized by a cooler and more humid climate than in recent years, with a harvest that began on September 12 and ended on October 4. The harvest was carried out in a diversified way, with multiple passes to allow the bunches to reach perfect ripeness. The viticulture follows environmentally friendly methods, with a low spontaneous and balanced production of the grapes, harvested by hand and carefully selected. The vinification takes place in oak vats, with spontaneous fermentations guided by indigenous yeasts and long macerations. The wine is aged for 30 months in 30 hl Slavonian oak barrels, before being bottled in December 2021.
