Why we like it
Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore is an iconic Tuscan wine from the renowned Bolgheri area on the Tuscan coast, distinguished by its unique character. This historic label is the result of a perfect marriage between the Cabernet and Merlot varieties, typical of the region, and Sangiovese, a rarity in Bolgheri. The grapes come from a 10-hectare vineyard located 100 meters above sea level, with vines averaging 20 years old. These balanced soils, blessed by a gentle Mediterranean climate, give the wine its distinctive characteristics. After manual harvesting, the grapes are spontaneously fermented in truncated cone-shaped wooden vats, with manual punching down and long macerations. Aging takes place in French barriques for 18 months, followed by 12 months of bottle aging.
