Tasting notes
The Barolo Riserva Villero 2016 reveals an enticing ruby red color. The nose is full, complex, and elegant, with intense notes of red fruits and plum, complemented by subtle forest floor nuances. On the palate, the wine is silky and enveloping, perfectly balanced. The tannins are present but well-integrated, and the finish is long and persistent, offering remarkable depth.
Pairings
Ideal for pairing with red meats, roasts, game, and aged cheeses. We recommend decanting it a few hours before serving to enhance its aromatic qualities and depth.
Why we like it
Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, the Barolo Riserva Villero 2016 comes from one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Barolo area, located in Castiglione Falletto. The Villero vineyard, with a south/southwest exposure, covers just over one hectare, with vines averaging 47 years of age. The 2016 harvest, done entirely by hand, took place on October 5th, yielding about 42 hectoliters of wine per hectare. The vinification process includes a long fermentation of about four weeks in steel tanks in contact with the skins, with malolactic fermentation occurring in wood. The wine is aged for 30 months in oak barrels, giving it a refined and complex structure.
