Tasting notes
This wine displays a deep ruby red color with garnet highlights. The nose is dominated by notes of ripe red fruits such as cherry and blackberry, enhanced by sweet spices and hints of tobacco. On the palate, it is well-structured and enveloping, with soft tannins that provide a pleasant roundness and a persistent, lively, and balanced finish.
Pairings
Perfect with succulent red meats, roasts, and game, it also pairs wonderfully with aged cheeses like Pecorino and Parmigiano Reggiano. Excellent with dishes featuring mushrooms and truffles.
Why we like it
Rocca di Frassinello Maremma Toscana DOC stems from an ambitious project that merges Italian winemaking traditions with French savoir-faire, in collaboration with Les Domaines Baron de Rothschild-Lafite. This wine represents one of the highest expressions of the Maremma terroir. The blend of Sangioveto, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes is fermented in steel and aged in barriques (80% new) for 24 months, followed by 11 months of bottle aging.
